Anthony Di Iorio, a Canadian entrepreneur, known as an early Bitcoin investor and co-founder of Ethereum, has announced that he is distancing himself from the crypto world due to safety concerns.

With his withdrawal from the crypto space, Di Iorio plans to sell Decentral and refocus on philanthropy and other ventures not related to crypto. He expects to sever ties in time with other startups he is involved with and doesn’t plan on funding any more blockchain projects.

Decentral was founded in 2014 by Anthony Di Iorio to become an innovation hub for disruptive and decentralized technologies. The organization has created a community of hundreds of partner projects in just six years, most notably spawning Ethereum and Jaxx Liberty.

Decentral’s flagship product Jaxx Liberty is a multi-currency, multi-platform digital asset wallet that allows you to securely manage dozens of digital assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Dash for free. Di Iorio said he has talked with a couple of potential investors and believes the startup will be valued at “hundreds of millions.” He expects to sell the company for fiat or equity in another company — not crypto.

Notably, Di Iorio also told Bloomberg that crypto accounts for only a “small percentage” of the complex problems the world faces today. He also said that about 20% of his decision was personal security concerns because of his position in the ecosystem.

“I will incorporate crypto when needed, but a lot of times, it’s not,” Di Iorio said. “It’s really a small percentage of what the world needs,” he added.
